Studies individualism and creativity as the basis of cultural development and innovation. He is the author of The Nature of Creative Development (Stanford University Press, 2006), and is currently at work on a project describing the ways in which distinctive, unique aspects of contributions individuals make influence others in their work, thus building up cultural linkages truly rooted in individuality. He explores individual creativity and paths of development in a wide range of fields, including business, the arts and sciences, and public affairs. In economics he is an expert in the field of tax compliance and the analysis of audit and detection processes; he has written an important review on the relationship between socioeconomic status and health, and is engaged in research studying elderly asset management as influenced by health, bequest motives, and economic variables.
