Professor of Strategic and International Management at London Business School. A native of Cyprus, he received his BA (Distinction) and MA in Economics from Boston University and his MBA and DBA from the Harvard Business School. Prior to joining London Business School he has worked as an Associate with the Cyprus Development Bank and as a Research Associate at the Harvard Business School. His has published in a wide range of journals such as the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Directors & Boards, Long Range Planning, British Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal and the Academy of Management Journal. His book Diversification, Refocusing and Economic Performance was published by MIT Press in December 1995 and his book All the Right Moves: A Guide to Crafting Breakthrough Strategy will be published by Harvard Business School Press in Autumn 1999. He has taught on many in-company programmes (for companies such as UBS, Jardine Pacific, Unilever, Pirelli, Honeywell, Wellcome, Polygram, HSBC James Capel, Mercuy Asset Management, Abbey National etc) and is on the Academic Advisory Board of the Cyprus International Institute of Management. He is also a non-executive Director of Amathus (UK) Ltd, a tour operating company. His research interests include international competitiveness, corporate restructuring, refocusing and international acquisitions, the management of diversified firms, and, most recently, the use of innovation and creativity to achieve strategic breakthroughs. |
