Research interests include: Comparative international research in competition between contexts, power, knowledge creation and organisation capabilities. There are specific interests in: the firm and national level of analysis; in the temporal-spatial-cost dynamics of corporate co-ordination and of knowledge chains; organisational geographics. Theoretical developments (e.g. the realist turn) especially in relation to the new economy and consumption.
Professor John Child is author or co-author of fifteen books and over one hundred articles in learned journals. His research spans information technology in service organisations, a framework for organisational behaviour, work organisation, strategy, and business organisations in China.
Kirstie Ball's main research interest concerns issues surrounding the electronic surveillance of the workforce, and surveillance in society at large. Her two main research projects to date concern the social shaping of surveillance capable technology in call centres and human resource management.
