Management Skills
|
|
Mark is viewed as a highly skilled facilitator and speaker, knowledgeable and energetic. He also uses his science training, both to connect scientific developments like complexity and chaos to the organisational world, and to cast an independent and gently sceptical eye over developments in management and psychology.
Mark has pioneered the use of Solutions Focused methods in organizational and business contexts, is co-author of The Solutions Focus: The SIMPLE Way to Positive Change (Nicholas Brealey Publications, 2002) and was instrumental in the founding of the SOL (Solutions in Organisations Linkup) conference series. He co-founded and remains a member of Bristol Solutions Group, the worlds first cross-disciplinary support group.
In addition Mark is now regarded as one of the UK's leading practitioners of accelerated learning methods. He is a regular conference presenter in Europe, the USA, and has worked on five continents. In addition to his experience and three physics degrees, Mark has an MBA from the Open Business School. He plays the saxophone and clarinet, and has a special interest in music and learning.
Mark writes for journals and other publications on management development topics. He is a member of the Association for Management Education and Development, the Association of MBAs, the Association for NLP, the Society for Effective Affective Learning, the International Alliance for Learning and the Professional Speakers Association. He is also a member of the SOL International Steering Group.
Following a doctoral degree, Mark began his career as a physicist in the electricity generation industry, where he held management positions in production (in nuclear power stations) and headquarters settings. During electricity privatisation he played a leading role in establishing Nuclear Electric plc, and was at the forefront in development of strategy for the new company. |
